Clarification about Future Continuous / Future Perfect and Future in the Past: (as emailed to Léna)

The Future Continuous is the „I will be attending“ form – „partner“ to „I will attend“.

Future Perfect forms are: „We will have written the exam in a week“ (done, finished) / „We will have been reading Frankenstein for about 8 weeks by Xmas“ (long!, and often - like in our case - still at it!)

Future in the Past forms are: „He thought he would do / was going to do better in the exam“ (introductory verb in past —> would or was going to)  /  and the same for statements expressing duration: „We knew we would be reading this book for several weeks.“ / rather rare, because awfully long form: „He said he was going to be watching movies all night long the following weekend.“

Hope it helps, H. Perino
